Koumaria, Medea Electronique Residency

In collaboration with Paula Castañon, Manolis Moriaty and Teresa Marie Connors

Inspired by the rooftops of Koumaria residency, spirals and circles became motifs for composing a movement score. Evolving around a nucleus, the performers progressively carve the space away from the midpoint.

Sounds were sampled throughout the residency period to compose a musical environment. Two performers are wearing remote controls attached to their wrists. The interaction between each other and the space is translated into sounds and visuals. The physical and digital systems communicate and feed off each other, materialising a conversation.

As this environment unfolds, the position of the remotes in space is recycled into sound. The visuals materialise real-time movement into particles of light, using the performer's bodies as a projection's interface.
